A well structured “avant garde” jazz composition, which features rich modal harmonies, full voicings from the “Ellington Era,” certain African rhythms, and a broken time feel. There are solo spots for both traditional and “free” soloists. The instrumentation is the same as “Ode to Nzinga” and has been conveniently transcribed for strings. This music was also recorded on Strata-East Records.
